The discussion forum for week 2 had a simple instruction: Find a piece of work that has some kind of link to your own practice or research interests (you may already have something in mind or you may need to give this some thought). This could be anything you like – a film, a painting, a piece of text; but not a photograph.

Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851), Fishermen at Sea (1796), oil on canvas, 91.4 x 122.2 cm, The Tate Gallery (Purchased 1972), London. © The Tate Gallery and Photographic Rights © Tate (2016), CC-BY-NC-ND 3.0 (Unported), http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/turner-fishermen-at-sea-t01585 (Links to an external site.)
My current practice is mostly Landscape and Milkyway. I am currently not decided upon a research project yet, early days. One area I am considering is Chiaroscuro. This image of fishermen at sea depicts the artists use of the technique. This is also a good example of how photography has adapted or consumed artist processes. There are many paintings using Chiaroscuro but this one is more linked to my practice due to its coastal nature.
